Be Still (Quédate Quieto)

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. -Exodus 14:14

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; -Psalm 37:7a

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. -Psalm 46:10

    Stillness

In the silent sunrise

painting the sky with light,

In a budding rosebush

flourishing in the desert,

In millions of stars

brightening the night sky - 

I see you.

In rumbling thunder

shaking heaven and earth,

In the roar of pouring rain

drowning every other sound,

In a bird's clear cry

singing after the storm - 

I hear you.

In a cool, gentle breeze

refreshing body and soul,

In ocean waves washing over me 

then lifting me up again,

In the beat of my own heart

vibrant, pulsing with life - 

I feel you.

You are everywhere present

yet always invisible,

You are constantly speaking

but only in a whisper,

You are always touching me

so intangibly real - 

Creator, Savior, Friend.

When I look, listen, wait,  

I find you -

Quédate Quieto

Ustedes quédense quietos,  que el Señor presentará batalla por ustedes. –Ex. 14:14

        Quietud

En la silenciosa salida del sol

pintando el cielo con la luz,

En un incipiente rosal

floreciendo en el desierto,

En millones de estrellas

iluminando el cielo nocturno –

Te veo.

En el retumbante trueno

sacudiendo el cielo y la tierra,

En el rugir de la lluvia torrencial

Ahogando cualquier otro sonido,

En el claro llanto de un pájaro

cantando después de la tormenta –

Te escucho.

En una fresca, suave brisa

refrescando cuerpo y alma,

En las olas del océano ahogándome

levantándome luego de nuevo,

En el latido de mi propio corazón

vibrante, palpitando de vida –

Te siento.

Estás presente en todas partes

Pero siempre invisible,

Estás constantemente hablando

Pero solamente en un susurro,

Siempre estás tocándome

Tan intangiblemente real –

Creador, Salvador, Amigo.

Cuando, veo, escucho, espero,

te encuentro –

En la quietud.
